EARNED INCOME AND EXEMPTION ELIGIBILITY

Income Assistance recipients (both employable and disabled persons) are eligible for the following earned income exemptions if:

  • They have been receiving income assistance support for the one month immediately preceding the month for which the exemption is claimed, and,
  • Each person in the family unit is under 65 years of age.

Exemption – Employable Single, Childless Couple, 1-Parent or 2-Parent Family Units (Including dependent child earnings, who is not a full time student)

Employable Single
Up to $200 per Month
Employable Childless Couple
Up to $200 per Month per Family Unit
Employable 1-Parent
Up to $400 per Month per Family Unit
Employable 2-Parent
Up to $400 per Month per Family Unit

 

Exemption – Persons With Multiple Barriers (PPMB)

All categories of PPMB
Up to $500 per Month per Family Unit

 

Exeption – Persons with Disabilities (PWD)

PWD Single
Up to $800 per Month
Family Unit – One Adult has PWD
Up to $1000 per Month per Family Unit
Family Unit – Both Adults have PWD
Up to $1600 per Month per Family Unit

Clients must declare earnings on Renewal Form AND submit pay-stub or other to Social Development Worker
